Energetic Schools Project from Çalık Enerji

12.11.2021

Working for a cleaner future with environmentally friendly projects that respect nature, Çalık Enerji has implemented a new corporate social responsibility project titled the “Energetic Schools Project” as part of its cooperation with the Turkish National Ministry of Education. Thanks to the solar panels installed as part of this project, both schools will now produce the energy they need.

The project, which helps schools produce their own energy; also aims to increase students' awareness of renewable energy sources and sustainability issues. The project has been implemented an approach of "value for people, investment in the future". The first leg of the Energetic Schools Social Responsibility Project, has commenced in Turkey’s Amasya province, with the cooperation of Amasya Provincial Directorate of National Education. Within the scope of the project, the feasibility studies of which took about one year, the Şehit Gültekin Tırpan Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School will now meet the majority of its energy needs through the 12 KWp solar panels installed in its garden. The project also aims to increase students' awareness of sustainability and renewable energy sources.

Mitsubishi Corporation, one of the project partners, has also established the Plumbing and Air Conditioning Technology Workshop at this prestigious vocational school. Thus, students will also receive state-of-the-art training on plumbing and air conditioning simulators.

Onur Yücekal: "Our schools will meet their own energy needs with renewable energy"

In his statement regarding the Energetic Schools Project, Onur Yücekal, the General Manager of Çalık Enerji stated that they were very pleased that the first step of the project was taken in Amasya. He continued by saying: “As Çalık Enerji, we have built our sustainability strategy on environmental, social and financial development. We wanted our social responsibility project to include all three of these components. We have dreamed of a school that can ensure its financial sustainability by producing its own energy; combat climate change by using renewable energy sources; and show its students the importance of environmental sustainability and raise the necessary awareness. Together with our employees, as Çalık Energy, we are happy to extend our efforts to build a better future, in our country and all countries where we operate in, to social responsibility areas as well.
